Oslo TO BOSTON: Visual Storytelling with MUSICIAN Maddie Nicole

One of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is building long-term creative collaborations, and working with Boston-based recording artist Maddie Nicole has been just that.

We’ve done four shoots together so far, each one unique and shaped by where Maddie is creatively at the time. Our first shoot became the album cover for her vinyl release—and there’s nothing quite like seeing your photo printed on the sleeve and on the record itself.

The mood for this album was emotional, raw, and slightly surreal. One of my favorite shots is a double exposure portrait, captured entirely in-camera—no Photoshop, just light, motion, and a bit of intuition. It perfectly mirrors the layered energy of her songs.

We photographed this in a studio set in Boston.
